The Apostille Process
Please select type of document you need to apostille or view the acceptable documents guide.
Apostille for original notarized documents
Before proceeding with the apostille process, you must have your document notarized. The document can be in a foreign language, but the notarization must be in English and it must be a full notarial statement. Please view our acceptable document guide to ensure that your document is correctly notarized.
We recommend using our free Notarial Statement Generator to create a compliant notarial certificate before notarization. You can attach this page to your document to help ensure it includes the required language and avoid rejections. A printable PDF version is also available.
We also recommend completing the notarization through remote online notarization (RON). This option is available worldwide and allows you to complete the notarization without mailing original documents. You can select this option at checkout and schedule a session at your convenience.
Alternatively, you may complete the notarization in person. Many banks offer free notarization services for customers, and locations such as UPS, Amscot, and USPS also provide notarization. If you complete the notarization in person, you will need to send us the original document. Your order includes a prepaid UPS shipping label. Simply print it and drop off the document at any UPS location.
After we receive the document, it will be processed by our office. The process takes 72 business hours with the expedited processing, or 1-2 weeks with the regular processing.
The notarization must be performed by a Florida-commissioned notary public. If you are located outside Florida, you can use our Remote Online Notarization (RON) service to have a Florida notary notarize your document remotely.

What Is a Florida Apostille?
An apostille is an official certification issued by the Florida Secretary of State that authenticates a public document for international use. Under the Hague Convention of 1961, documents bearing a Florida apostille are legally recognized in over 120 member countries without requiring embassy legalization or consular authentication.
The Florida Department of State in Tallahassee is the sole authority that issues apostilles for Florida documents. Only documents issued by a Florida government agency (birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates, diplomas) or documents notarized by a commissioned Florida notary public (translations, powers of attorney, affidavits, corporate documents) are eligible for a Florida apostille. If your document requires notarization, use our free Notarial Statement Generator to create the correct notarial text before your notarization session.
Regular apostille processing takes 1–2 weeks at a flat rate of $115 per document, which includes all state filing fees. Expedited processing is available for an additional $55 per order and delivers results within 72 business hours, with UPS Overnight return shipping included for domestic orders. Both options include a complimentary pre-paid UPS shipping label to send your documents to our office.
The most commonly apostilled documents include birth certificates for dual citizenship applications, marriage certificates for international weddings, diplomas and transcripts for foreign employment or education, and powers of attorney for overseas property transactions. If you need both translation and apostille, our translation and apostille bundles handle the entire process in one order. Based in Orlando, Florida Translate serves clients across all of Florida, and through our Remote Online Notarization service, we can notarize and apostille translations for clients nationwide.
