What Is a Notarial Statement?
A notarial statement (also called a notarial certificate) is the legal text that a notary public attaches to a document during notarization. It records the key details of the notarization: who appeared, how their identity was verified, and the type of notarial act performed.
Florida law (F.S. §117.05) requires every notarized document to include a complete notarial statement. A notary stamp or seal alone is not sufficient. Documents missing the full statement text are routinely rejected by the Florida Department of State for apostille processing, by courts, and by other agencies.
There are two standard types of notarial statements used in Florida: the Acknowledgment and the Jurat. Each serves a different purpose, and using the wrong one can invalidate the notarization. Our tool generates both types with the correct Florida statutory language.

FAQs
Got a question? We're here to help.
An Acknowledgment confirms the signer's identity and that they signed voluntarily. The signer may sign before or during the notary session. A Jurat requires the signer to sign in the notary's presence and take an oath that the contents are true. Use an Acknowledgment for contracts, deeds, and powers of attorney. Use a Jurat for affidavits, sworn statements, and declarations.
